Blessing of the Backpacks - August 10th

Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 10th. Invite every student, teacher, school administrator, and school employee you know to join us for worship as we ask God to bless the school year and make it a great one for all involved.

Students are encouraged to bring their backpacks to worship and pile them at the altar. We can't announce this in the schools, so spread the word to everyone you can!

Sermons Available Online

The recording equipment in the sanctuary is finally back up and running. Sermons are now available again online. You can either download them through iTunes by searching for "Mt. Bethel" or listening online at www.sermoncloud.com/mt-bethel-umc/.

Rock Spring Elementary

The new elementary school on Stroud Road is set to open in a few weeks. Soon, teachers and staff will be showing up for pre-planning and to set up classrooms. At the altar in the church sanctuary is a peace lily that we will be placing in the school office, along with a gift basket, to welcome the teachers to the community. If you would like to contribute to the welcome gift, please contact the church office.

We're also looking for anyone interested in giving a couple of hours per month to helping at the school. If you are interested, please let us know. One-on-one mentoring/tutoring, classroom adn teacher support, and special event support will all be needed.

Youth Pool Party

The youth will be having a pool party this Saturday afternoon (July 26). Meet at the church with your suit, towel, and sunblock at 1pm and we'll ride over to Boomer Champion's house for some fun.

If you have anything that needs to be addressed by the Council, please email Helen Busbin AND Alex Stroud prior to the meeting so we can be sure you're appropriately added to the agenda.

Fourth of July Celebration

This year, in lieu of worshipping at Johnny Wilkerson's on the Sunday adjacent to Independence Day, we will hold worhsip and Sunday school at the church as usual. Next Sunday, July 6th, we will be having a church picnic and 4th of July Celebration, at Johnny's invitation, by his lake. Several of the men are taking care of hotdogs for everyone and we're asking you to provide the sides and desserts. Directions to the Wilkersons' will be available at church on the 6th and also on the church website.

Come at 4:00 for the fishing tournament and 5:00 for the cookout. Bring your lawn chairs and camping chairs.
